NEW EC FOR PETERBOROUGH

William Carew,VE3MEW has become the new EC for the Peterborough City and County Region in the Severn District. Bill has recently completed the RAC CEC examination and also holds support an an active member of the Peterborough ARC. Two new AEC`s VE3BLM and VE3IQZ will also assist Bill with Municipal planning and coordination in this newly appointed role.

PARES Membership Database Forms

All PARES members are asked to download and complete the PARES Members Data Form. Please give completed forms to either Harmen VE3EMA or Robert VE3KEA. The purpose of these forms is to create a database of all members with their qualifications and equipment. During an Emergency, this database will provide the Emergency Coordinator information on who may provide needed communication services based on equipment availability and expertise.

PARES Nets on Local Repeater VE3TJR (146.970 Mhz)

Every Wednesday evening at 8:00pm

The purpose of the weekly ARES Nets by PARES is to test how many members could respond to an emergency communications request. It also serves as an exchange for ideas to help in preparation for emergency communications.

ARES Public Service Merit Awards Presentation

Was held Sunday, January 23rd, 2005

Public Service Merit Awards was presented to nineteen Amateur Radio operators who gave their time and skills during the July 2004 flood in Peterborough. The presentation was made by Ben Price, Director, Ontario North/East of Radio Amateurs of Canada. Presentations was also given to each Amateur by the City of Peterborough, represented by Henry Clarke, Councillor, Deputy Mayor. MPP Jeff Leal also delivered presentations on behalf of the Government of Ontario.

PARES Meetings

Team and Assistant Team Leaders of the Peterborough Amateur Radio Emergency Service are requested to participate in these meetings. PARES meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month at the home of VE3BLM and VE3TZM at 7:30 pm.
